Zouk

Zouk-Lambada (also called Lambada-Zouk, Brazilian Zouk or simply Zouk) is a group of closely related dance styles based on or evolved from the fusion of traditional French Caribbean Zouk close partner dancing (Kole Sere) with the more sophisticated and choreographically complex Brazilian partner dance styles. Zouk, meaning "party" in a French Creole dialect, came about as a new way for Brazilians to dance Lambada. Zouk music originated in the French Caribbean islands such as Guadalupe and Martinica. The dance there is very different from that of Brazil where it is a modern interpretation of Lambada. The Zouk-Lambada dancing styles are among the most popular non-ballroom dances for couples in Brazil.
